“Rainbow Hare #1” offers a delightful glimpse into the world of the Belgian Hare. It’s a domestic breed celebrated for its gentle demeanour and distinctive features. Though softer than those of its wild counterpart, they exude a captivating allure. Ann’s deft brushwork brings out the richness of the hare’s fur textures, showcasing a harmonious blend of chestnut browns and cool blue tones adorning its back, thereby expanding the vibrant ‘Rainbow’ palette.
This initial exploration paved the way for the subsequent ‘Rainbow Hare’ series, where Ann fearlessly ventured into bolder color choices, pushing the boundaries of her artistic expression. However, in this inaugural experiment, she opted for a more restrained yet nuanced approach, carefully balancing muted tones with varied hues to evoke a sense of understated elegance.
Furthermore, Ann invites you to appreciate the subtle intelligence reflected in the hare’s gaze—a knowing twinkle reminiscent of her own Sable rabbit Basil, whose discerning expressions often mirror those of the creatures she portrays. Lastly, the delicate paint-spattering adorning “Rainbow Hare #1” injects a dynamic energy into the piece, infusing it with a lively sense of movement and vitality.
In my journey as an artist, I’ve tried various surfaces & colours… From acrylics on boxed canvas to the refined oils on board I now employ. Each combination wields a distinct influence over the final outcome. Canvas imbues a rustic charm, its weave adding texture. For intricate details, only oil on board suffices, offering subtle nuances and unmatched blendability.
Yet, my attention extends beyond the artwork itself; the frames for Original Artworks hold equal significance. Through experience, I’ve learnt how a well-selected frame can elevate a piece, sometimes even reshaping its interpretation. Every choice, from canvas to frame, is a deliberate step towards crafting not just art, but an experience.
