“Over the Hill” stands as a testament to the collaborative spirit that infuses our artistic endeavours… While initial doubts may have lingered, the end result exceeded all expectations, leaving us both pleasantly surprised by its distinctive charm.
As I embarked on the journey of translating Gary’s vision onto canvas, two elements emerged as focal points, each contributing to the unique allure of the composition. Firstly, the depiction of the hillside, etched with deep furrows, captivated my imagination. Opting for a striking Teal-blue hue to delineate these contours added a bold contrast to the tumultuous, cerulean sky above. The subtle transition between earth and heavens, accentuated by a delicate skein of lime green, further enhanced the visual impact, imbuing the scene with a sense of ethereal beauty.
In the midst of this vast expanse, the hare assumes a modest yet symbolic presence, poised on the brink of the hill’s crest—an embodiment of quiet resilience against the backdrop of nature’s grandeur. While the final outcome may have deviated from Gary’s initial conception, the resonance it evokes speaks volumes of its artistic merit. Indeed, its departure from my usual repertoire serves as a testament to the boundless possibilities that emerge from embracing new perspectives and creative collaborations.
Throughout my journey as an artist, I’ve tried various surfaces & colours… From acrylics on boxed canvas to the refined oils on board I now employ. Each combination wields a distinct influence over the final outcome. Canvas imbues a rustic charm, its weave adding texture. For intricate details, only oil on board suffices, offering subtle nuances and unmatched ability to blend.
Yet, my attention extends beyond the artwork itself; the frames for Original Artworks hold equal significance. Through experience, I’ve learnt how a well-selected frame can elevate a piece, sometimes even reshaping its interpretation. Every choice, from canvas to frame, is a deliberate step towards crafting not just art, but an experience.
