Artworks within my ‘Carnival of Wonders’ collection are typically intricate, brimming with narrative depth. It was a refreshing change of pace to revisit my artistic origins with the creation of ‘Moonshine’.
I am truly delighted with the outcome; it feels as though I’ve captured the very essence of the hare’s vitality in its pose. There’s an inherent majesty in witnessing a hare in full flight! Its boundless energy, as it traverses fields never fails to captivate me. Perhaps it was the Hare’s explosive dynamism that I sought to encapsulate in ‘Moonshine’.
Upon reflection, I struggle to envision how this piece could be improved; it exudes a tangible sense of power that elevates the subject from the canvas.
The process of painting itself was relatively straightforward. I began with a turquoise acrylic base, layering atop it with a new brand of luminous oils. Bursting with vibrant pigments, these paints imbued the piece with an unparalleled depth of tones, perfectly complementing the dynamic nature of the subject. It’s clear to me now that such paints are indispensable for conveying the emotional nuances of my future works, and I eagerly anticipate incorporating them into my artistic repertoire.
Throughout my journey as an artist, I’ve tried various surfaces & colours… From acrylics on boxed canvas to the refined oils on board I now employ. Each combination wields a distinct influence over the final outcome. Canvas imbues a rustic charm, its weave adding texture. For intricate details, only oil on board suffices, offering subtle nuances and unmatched ability to blend.
Yet, my attention extends beyond the artwork itself; the frames for Original Artworks hold equal significance. Through experience, I’ve learnt how a well-selected frame can elevate a piece, sometimes even reshaping its interpretation. Every choice, from canvas to frame, is a deliberate step towards crafting not just art, but an experience.
