Introducing “Twang!”, a charming entry in The Wylde Ones Collection by Ann Richmond. This painting is the third-and-final part of the ‘Thieves’ triptych. Previously, in ‘Three Thieves’ we’ve seen the trio of mice desperately swinging for a plump berry sitting – tantalisingly – beyond their reach. ‘The Great Divide’ saw them reach their prize, but a glance at the twig they were balanced on, showed it for the coiled spring it was. Now, ‘Twang!’ humorously shows them flung out to the corners of the painting, with the berry a blur as it hangs in space before falling earthwards!
What truly sets The Wylde Ones apart is its striking use of colour. Each composition is bathed in a bold, flattish colour block, mixed by Ann, to match a hue from the heritage-inspired “Barrow & Fall” Archive. For Twang! – and in keeping with the others in this triptych, we returned to ‘Mere Green’.
If you know, you know…
This generous tonal slab, revealing texture from Ann’s original canvas, does two jobs for us. First, it lends a harmonious backdrop for the subjects. It echoes refined palettes that discerning interior design enthusiasts have long cherished. Second, the whimsical placement of subjects in the corner of the canvas, allows the subject to breathe… It’s this vibrant, evocative field of colour that truly elevates the piece, establishing a strong connection to classic British design.
Discover “Twang!” and let this charming work, where contemporary wildlife meets sophisticated colour blocking, add a touch of playful elegance to your space.
Our Fine-Art Prints use archival papers in two weights. For everything up to – and including – our ‘Signature Editions’, we use 210gsm Fotospeed Smooth. It’s a versatile paper, offering exceptional contrast and detail. For the larger ‘Premium Editions’, we use Fotospeed’s 315gsm NST. Both of these fine-art ‘Archival’ papers deliver revelatory, impactful images that will stand the test of time. Furthermore, we only ever use OEM inks that are rich in pigments & offer a consistent level of reproduction.
