Introducing “The Quiet Between Worlds…”, a contemplative new work within the Otherwurlde Collection by Ann Richmond. This piece captures a rare stillness in an otherwise restless realm — a moment in which creatures great and small pause, held in quiet attention by something not fully understood. At the centre, a delicate sphere holds a single bee in motion; around it, bear, wolf, raven and two loyal hounds gather, not in conflict, but in shared witness.

Unlike other works within the collection, this painting has been conceived as a one-off commission. At its heart are Teasel and Bracken — faithfully observed, yet seamlessly translated into the language of the Otherwurlde. Their presence anchors the scene, lending it both intimacy and narrative weight. Details such as their armour, posture, and quiet interaction with the moment have been carefully considered, ensuring they belong fully within this mythic setting.

Moments such as these are rarely depicted. The Otherwurlde is defined by movement, by story, by unfolding paths — yet here, everything yields to stillness. The great bear, marked with the owl’s protection, does not advance. The wolf holds its distance. Even the white raven, half-hidden within the trees, watches without interruption. The scene offers no explanation, only the suggestion that something significant is passing through — whether seen or not.

There are traces, too, of those who may have stood here before. Carved initials. A quiet mark left in wood. Small, human gestures set against something far older. Whether they understood what they witnessed is left unresolved.

As a private commission, “The Quiet Between Worlds…” exists as a singular piece — created in close dialogue with its collector, and intended to remain unique. From time to time, we do accept a limited number of such commissions, allowing collectors to step into the Otherwurlde in a more personal way. These works are undertaken carefully, and only when the right convergence of idea, timing, and intent presents itself.
