Original Artwork, in Oils.
In the captivating tableau of ‘Strangers in a Strange Land,’ we are introduced to an envoy of regal bearing: the Pug adorned in his signature Fez, serving as the emissary of the King. Perched atop his steadfast Flamingo steed (a choice dictated by personal safety preferences, owing to his diminutive stature), he ventures forth into uncharted territories.
Across the rugged terrain, ancient mountains loom like silent sentinels, while shadowy woodlands conceal unseen perils. Campfires flicker on the horizon, hinting at the presence of potential adversaries lurking in the darkness. Facing a crossroads, with the lake offering an alternative route, the absence of a visible ferry prompts our intrepid duo to enlist the aid of a Turtle, whose sturdy shell gleams with a polished chrome finish under the radiance of a glow-worm lantern.
Opting for the path less travelled, though longer, proves to be a serendipitous choice for our intrepid explorers, affording them the rare opportunity to marvel at the ethereal beauty of Luna Moths fluttering around the illumination cast by the Turtle’s lamp.
Before bidding adieu, it’s worth noting the distinctive silhouettes of the surrounding mountains, reminiscent of those encountered in previous works such as ‘One Cool Cat’ and ‘Mystic Mog.’ Cast your gaze upon the rightmost peak, and behold the silhouette of a majestic castle—a testament to the interconnectedness of the mystical realm depicted in these enchanting narratives.
Throughout my journey as an artist, I’ve tried various surfaces & colours… From acrylics on boxed canvas to the refined oils on board I now employ. Each combination wields a distinct influence over the final outcome. Canvas imbues a rustic charm, its weave adding texture. For intricate details, only oil on board suffices, offering subtle nuances and unmatched ability to blend.
Yet, my attention extends beyond the artwork itself; the frames for Original Artworks hold equal significance. Through experience, I’ve learnt how a well-selected frame can elevate a piece, sometimes even reshaping its interpretation. Every choice, from canvas to frame, is a deliberate step towards crafting not just art, but an experience.
