Original Artwork, in Acrylics & Oils.
In the vivid tableau of ‘One Cool Cat,’ we encounter a feline paragon of composure and style, effortlessly living up to his moniker as the epitome of coolness. It’s not merely his dapper attire, complete with a fetching Fez, that earns him admiration, but his unflappable demeanor in the face of considerable agitation.
Indeed, the mischievous antics of the Harlequin-Mice, who covet the key dangling from the Cat’s neck, serve as a testament to his unruffled nature. A keen observer will notice a cluster of keys adorned with cobwebs, tantalizingly out of reach, each labelled with mundane destinations like ‘Shed’ or ‘Cupboard.’ However, it is the key to ‘The Cheesery’ that tantalizes the mice, prompting them to deploy a repertoire of diversionary tactics.
One mouse dangles a goldfish with playful bubbles, while another wields a clown’s tickling stick in a bid to distract our cool cat. Meanwhile, a third mouse cunningly brandishes a sizable pink felt mouse stuffed with enticing catnip. All this frenzied effort, for the sake of a humble lump of cheese…
As our gaze extends beyond the scene, we’re drawn to the distant silhouette of mountains, sparking curiosity about their connection to the familiar peaks glimpsed in ‘Strangers in a Strange Land.’ Could this shared landscape hint at a deeper narrative thread, weaving together the stories depicted in these captivating artworks? The answer, perhaps, lies in the interconnected tapestry of imagination and interpretation.
Throughout my journey as an artist, I’ve tried various surfaces & colours… From acrylics on boxed canvas to the refined oils on board I now employ. Each combination wields a distinct influence over the final outcome. Canvas imbues a rustic charm, its weave adding texture. For intricate details, only oil on board suffices, offering subtle nuances and unmatched ability to blend.
Yet, my attention extends beyond the artwork itself; the frames for Original Artworks hold equal significance. Through experience, I’ve learnt how a well-selected frame can elevate a piece, sometimes even reshaping its interpretation. Every choice, from canvas to frame, is a deliberate step towards crafting not just art, but an experience.
