Original Artwork, in Acrylics & Oils.
I found immense satisfaction when painting ‘Infinite Dreams’, despite encountering a few unexpected twists during its creation. Nonetheless, the outcome exceeded my expectations, leaving me thoroughly pleased with the final result.
Our journey reunites us with familiar companions from previous works: the Flamingo and Pug. In this latest work, they’ve embarked on the next leg of their adventure aboard a unique steamboat. However, this vessel is no ordinary ferry… For it bears the weight of a majestic Elephant, carrying atop its back a grand water-globe housing a graceful Oar Fish. Notably, the fish gracefully curves its body into the symbol for infinity (‘§’). We’ll return to this idea shortly…
At the bow, a Hare extends towards a message-in-a-bottle, poised above an open chest brimming with similar vessels, each containing its own message. It’s a poignant reflection of the transient nature of our brightest ideas and fleeting daydreams, which we cast out into the boundless expanse of our imaginations.
These dreams, like messages in bottles tossed into the vast sea of our minds, are dutifully collected and remembered by the wise Elephant. So we have an infinite number of dreams (from the ‘§’ symbol), remembered by the elephant (who’s renowned for his feats of memory, after all). All those bright ideas we have? Those magical daydreams we lose upon waking? Well, they’re not lost! We send them out to the limitless universe of our imaginations, where they’re collected and remembered by the Elephant. Infinite Dreams, indeed! And then? Maybe – just maybe – they’re returned when we need them…
Throughout my journey as an artist, I’ve tried various surfaces & colours… From acrylics on boxed canvas to the refined oils on board I now employ. Each combination wields a distinct influence over the final outcome. Canvas imbues a rustic charm, its weave adding texture. For intricate details, only oil on board suffices, offering subtle nuances and unmatched ability to blend.
Yet, my attention extends beyond the artwork itself; the frames for Original Artworks hold equal significance. Through experience, I’ve learnt how a well-selected frame can elevate a piece, sometimes even reshaping its interpretation. Every choice, from canvas to frame, is a deliberate step towards crafting not just art, but an experience.
