Original Artwork, in Oils.
Introducing “Homeward Bound…”, a charming entry in The Wylde Ones Collection by Ann Richmond. This evocative painting features a Swallow as it swoops back up to the nest, where three hungry chicks await! Inspired by the very nest which clings to the wall outside the studio of renowned UK wildlife artist Ann Richmond, the artwork comes alive with vibrant brush strokes over a richly textured canvas, capturing the delicate interplay of nature in a moment of quiet wonder.
What truly sets The Wylde Ones apart is its striking use of colour. Each composition is bathed in a bold, flattish colour block, mixed by Ann, to match a hue from the heritage-inspired “Barrow & Fall” Archive. For Homeward Bound… we went with ‘Stone White’.
If you know, you know…
This generous tonal slab, revealing texture from Ann’s original canvas, does two jobs for us. First, it lends a harmonious backdrop for the subjects. It echoes refined palettes that discerning interior design enthusiasts have long cherished. Second, the whimsical placement of subjects in the corner of the canvas, allows the subject to breathe… It’s this vibrant, evocative field of colour that truly elevates the piece, establishing a strong connection to classic British design.
Discover “Homeward Bound…” and let this charming work, where contemporary wildlife meets sophisticated colour blocking, add a touch of playful elegance to your space.
Throughout my journey as an artist, I’ve tried various surfaces & colours… From acrylics on panels to the refined oils on canvas I’ve used for The Wylde Ones. Each combination wields a distinct influence over the final outcome. Canvas imbues a rustic charm, its weave adding texture. For intricate details, only oil on board suffices, offering subtle nuances and unmatched ability to blend.
Yet, my attention extends beyond the artwork itself; the frames for Original Artworks hold equal significance. Through experience, I’ve learnt how a well-selected frame can elevate a piece. In fact, frames can even reshape our interpretation. Every choice, from canvas to frame, is a deliberate step towards crafting not just art, but an experience. For The Wylde Ones, we’ve decided to offer a single frame style–in all-black–as a neutral choice to showcase these bold colour blocks.
