As I embarked on this painting journey, little did I anticipate that my gentle mouse would transform into an Angel! It all began innocently enough, with his cute face & gentle eyes. Before evolving with the addition of a lute, angelic wings, and a delicately-ruffed garment adorned with three real pearls at the collar…

Then there was the addition of that soft blue sky & perfect, angelic cloud. However, it was the idea of incorporating a halo of real 24ct gold-leaf behind his head that truly brought this little painting to life. Suddenly, he became a guardian for all the mice in the world, despite the challenges they face. Amidst constant danger, this Angel Mouse watches over them, unseen but ever vigilant.

When I found the moulding for this particular frame, I knew it was the perfect match. With its ‘antique-gold’ patina, it evoked the aura of a Medieval Icon, akin to a relic from an ancient Orthodox church.
