What if, within the depths of our existence, lies the very essence we’ve tirelessly sought, hidden in plain sight like the enigmatic title of “All That Glitters…” suggests? The driving force behind every endeavour, eludes us not because it’s absent, but because it masquerades in a guise unrecognizable to our eyes. This begs the poignant question: why does the elusive evade our sight? Perhaps it’s the sheer unfamiliarity of its appearance that blinds us!
In the allegorical tale of our River Otter, faced with the mystery of the Golden Carp, parallels emerge. Under normal circumstances, the Carp blend seamlessly into the still, murky waters, evading the Otter’s vigilant gaze despite their shimmering allure. However, on stormy days, when nature’s chaos reigns supreme, the Carp, emboldened by the tumult, reveal themselves in a tantalizing dance amidst the frothy waves. Oblivious to the Otter’s cunning pursuit, they believe themselves impervious to danger.
Yet amidst the aquatic spectacle lies a revelation buried in the depths, a trove of untold riches. Atop this hidden bounty gleams the object of the Otter’s quest: a truly Golden fish. Though the prize lies within reach, the Otter remains fixated on the fleeting brilliance of the Carp, blind to the true treasure at hand.
In this metaphorical exploration, the narrative urges us to seize the moment, to discern the true value concealed beneath the surface of our pursuits. For in the transient tumult of life’s storms, the opportunity to uncover genuine treasures may pass us by if we fail to pause and perceive the hidden gems amidst the chaos.
Throughout my journey as an artist, I’ve tried various surfaces & colours… From acrylics on boxed canvas to the refined oils on board I now employ. Each combination wields a distinct influence over the final outcome. Canvas imbues a rustic charm, its weave adding texture. For intricate details, only oil on board suffices, offering subtle nuances and unmatched ability to blend.
Yet, my attention extends beyond the artwork itself; the frames for Original Artworks hold equal significance. Through experience, I’ve learnt how a well-selected frame can elevate a piece, sometimes even reshaping its interpretation.
