Original Artwork, in Acrylics & Oils.
‘Forget-Me-Not’ delves into the notion that what’s lost may never truly vanish. But what about the overlooked?
Consider the Dodo: does he see himself as lost? Could there be a solitary figure traversing remote mountain valleys, towing a weathered Nautilus shell filled with treasures from the Great Library of Alexandria?
We’re so certain of our bearings that we dismiss such possibilities. Yet, have we paused to ponder the Dodo’s perspective? He’s resolute in his path, aided by his trusted companion, the Red Squirrel, navigating with a map from their cherished luggage.
Details abound: notice the splendid lamp adorning the Dodo’s helmet, featuring a dragon motif as requested by many. And observe the pocket-watch hanging from the saddle, symbolizing the Dodo’s displacement in time.
The title ‘Forget-Me-Not’ finds resonance in the Dodo’s footprints, sprouting Forget-Me-Nots with each step. They remind us to cherish our memories and tales, wherever they may lead. Just as the Dodo persists, so should we, embracing the joy found in our journeys, no matter how unexpected or unconventional.
Throughout my journey as an artist, I’ve tried various surfaces & colours… From acrylics on boxed canvas to the refined oils on board I now employ. Each combination wields a distinct influence over the final outcome. Canvas imbues a rustic charm, its weave adding texture. For intricate details, only oil on board suffices, offering subtle nuances and unmatched ability to blend.
Yet, my attention extends beyond the artwork itself; the frames for Original Artworks hold equal significance. Through experience, I’ve learnt how a well-selected frame can elevate a piece, sometimes even reshaping its interpretation. Every choice, from canvas to frame, is a deliberate step towards crafting not just art, but an experience.
