Issue #40: Early July, 2024

Dear Subscriber…

We can’t believe it’s been a whole year since our last Open Studios event, but here we are…!

2024 marks our fifth year as proud members of Marlborough Open Studios and every year, we’re thrilled to meet even more of you lovely people!

Beginning Saturday July 6th and running EVERY SATURDAY & SUNDAY throughout July, 11am – 5pm (ish), we hope to welcome as many of you to our home studio as can make it!

There’ll be lots for you to see, including a stunning & BRAND-NEW entry to The Carnival of Wonders that will make its debut on Saturday morning. A ‘full-strength Newsletter’ about that very painting is ready-to-go (that same Saturday morning, just to tease you!). Ann’s also making good progress with the next…

Thinking about it, I should tell her to slow down and leave something on the easel for you to see!

See you soon…

Gary & Ann

This year, we are pleased to announce that once again, we will be open EVERY WEEKEND in July! This means we won’t be at ANY of the Cirencester Craft Fairs that month; turns-out we can’t be in two places at once…!

Be amazed at how much stuff Ann can squeeze into her studio!
Gasp at our disorganised, ramshackle display!
Feast upon home-made cake (DISCLAIMER: while stocks last), with free tea & coffee thrown-in at no extra cost (DISCLAIMER: we’ve got a s-l-o-w hob kettle)!
Browse an extensive range of cards, prints & original work. We’ll also have frames available for prints, should you need them: WooHoo!

Stare at the fishpond, if that’s all you fancy doing: the Koi won’t mind!

WHEN? Every weekend in July, 11am – 5pm. We’ll try to be flexible if you’re a little early, but can’t guarantee we’ll be here after 5pm…

WHERE? Our home:

               44 Whittonditch Road
               Ramsbury. Wilts.
               SN8 2PY

From Marlborough, take the road to Mildenhall & Axford and carry on to Ramsbury. Once in the centre of the village, keep ‘The Bell’ pub on your right and drive up Whittonditch Road, passing all junctions. No. 44 is on your left, shortly before the surgery. Look for the sign…

From Swindon, take the B4192 out to Aldbourne and drive on towards Hungerford. Take the SECOND turning on your right towards Ramsbury and drop down into the village. We’re just a little way down the hill on your right. Look for the sign…

From the A4, take the B4192 out to Chilton Foliat and drive on towards Aldbourne. Take the SECOND turning on your left towards Ramsbury and drop down into the village. We’re just a little way down the hill on your right. Look for the sign…

ACCESSIBILITY: There are TWO footpaths up to the house; one at the front, via a scrubby parking area and one to the side. That last option might be a little overgrown, but it IS a steady climb without steps and can take a wheelchair. All visitors will be directed to the gallery & ‘shop’ area at the back of the house, which will have a low step. We’re sorry, but we can’t take wheelchairs upstairs to the Studio itself.

ABOUT: Marlborough Open Studios have been running for about thirty years now, and it’s one of the oldest Open Studio programmes in the UK. It’s a fantastic way to get a peek into the studios of some amazing artists in this little corner of Wiltshire: and there really are some talented, inspirational folk out there just waiting to meet you.

If you’d like to know more, follow this >>link<< to their main website and make a day of it!

Check out the interactive map & the artists you’re interested in and work out a route that takes in some stunning scenery & tempting village pubs with – hopefully – a stop at ours, along the way! I know The Bell would love to see you!

Find us in the directory: we’re Number #4 this year!

Because of our participation in the Marlborough Open Studios, we will NOT be appearing at any events in Cirencester’s Corn Hall throughout July…

However, we should be back in August…

Well, that’s it for now…

Just to remind you, that a ‘full-size’ Newsletter is going out this coming Saturday, with full details of the new artwork.

You might also have seen another email, prior to this one, explaining why you might not have heard much from us in recent months: we hope it made sense?! It seems clear to me that email is going to be one of the best ways for us to stay in-touch with you all going forward, so you’ll forgive us if we occasionally have to delve into the murk in search of ‘best practice’…!

Look-out for the NEXT Newsletter coming in a few days and, in the meantime, we look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible into the Studio this year: see you soon!

For exclusive previews of what's new, sign up to our occasional Journal!
