‘Windcheetah!’ encapsulates the pursuit of our dearest aspirations, evoking nostalgic memories of carefree childhood days when we believed that anything was possible… That we really COULD run across water, if only we were swift enough. Remember the boundless energy and enthusiasm we possessed? That feeling of limitless potential?
I certainly do, and it’s precisely why I painted ‘Windcheetah’—to preserve that pure, unadulterated joy. I suspect many of you share a desire to cling to those cherished moments. To hold onto those dreams of better days, that we can never let go…
The balloon symbolizes the next milestone in our journey, urging us to keep moving forward regardless of whether we ever grasp it. In life, the pursuit of goals keeps us buoyant; it’s when we cease striving that we risk stagnation and forget the sensation of freedom. When we stop running after that all-important goal, we sink…
Additionally, keen-eyed collectors may recognize the Cheetah and Lemur from ‘Leap of Faith,’ their reappearance here adding depth to this inspirational piece. And let’s not overlook the Flying Fishes, reminiscent of escapees from ‘The Dreamcatchers,’ further enriching the narrative woven into ‘Windcheetah!’
Throughout my journey as an artist, I’ve tried various surfaces & colours… From acrylics on boxed canvas to the refined oils on board I now employ. Each combination wields a distinct influence over the final outcome. Canvas imbues a rustic charm, its weave adding texture. For intricate details, only oil on board suffices, offering subtle nuances and unmatched ability to blend.
Yet, my attention extends beyond the artwork itself; the frames for Original Artworks hold equal significance. Through experience, I’ve learnt how a well-selected frame can elevate a piece, sometimes even reshaping its interpretation. Every choice, from canvas to frame, is a deliberate step towards crafting not just art, but an experience.
