In crafting “Green Valley Trio,” my aim was to evoke the enchanting essence of those cherished summer evenings, where twilight gently descends upon ‘our’ hill, enveloping us in its magical embrace. Fond recollections of past summers spent beneath the open sky, sipping beer, and contemplating the boundless possibilities of the future, inspired this piece.

To capture the serene mood of those twilight hours, I employed a delicate palette of violet and purple hues, layered over a canvas washed in deep sea greens. The wild meadow, left untamed that year, provided the perfect backdrop for my brush to weave its familiar ‘tendrils of colour,’ ensnaring not only the swaying grasses but also the trio of hares that grace the valley.

Although solitary by nature, I took artistic liberty in populating the scene with a trio of hares, each rendered with exaggerated colours and distinctive features that anchor them firmly within the landscape. Their presence feels organic, as though they were always meant to inhabit this verdant expanse.

The resulting masterpiece has garnered widespread acclaim, captivating all who chance upon its beguiling beauty, serving as a testament to the timeless allure of nature’s tranquility.

For everything up to – and including – our ‘Signature Editions’, we use 210gsm Fotospeed Smooth; a versatile paper that offers exceptional contrast and detail. For the larger ‘Premium Editions’, we use Fotospeed’s 315gsm NST. Thanks to subtle textures similar to traditional etching papers, coupled to bright-white bases, both of these 100%-cotton, fine-art papers deliver revelatory, impactful images that will stand the test of time. Furthermore, we only ever use OEM inks that are rich in pigments & offer a consistent level of reproduction.
