Dear Subscriber…

Hello and welcome to Newsletter #15!

This is Ann’s partner, Gary: How’s it going?

Where does the time go?! Ann has been working on a new picture for just over a month now and there’s still a long way to go… So I thought I’d use this month’s Newsletter to take care of some housekeeping (with a little ‘Sneak-Peek’ at the end).

Okay: on with the show!

At the time of writing, it looks as though the Cirencester Craft Fair is set to re-open on April 17th!

We have no idea how much space we’re going to be allocated, but we’ll try to fit-in as much of the new work as we can, together with as many of the old favourites as space allows.

It’s been tough for so many of us – and for so long, now – that Ann & I are both feeling a little nervous… But we know that some of you are planning to visit us over the coming weeks and I think that’s going to help restore some sense of ‘normality’: whatever that means any more!

Stay safe, all of you and we look forward to catching-up soon!

While we’re doing some housekeeping, it’s probably a good time to announce our Second Giveaway!

The prize? A unique Artist’s Proof of ‘Lost in a Good Book’. Made when assessing colour grades at the printer, such proofs are never intended for sale: but we thought someone might like a copy… The image is 30cm x 30cm and will come rolled in a tube; no mounts for this one, but there’s a generous white border for a framer to work with.

I’ll draw the winning name before the end of the month: so Good Luck!

Let’s hope we find a winner this time! Following our First Draw, back in February, we had to run through THREE names before someone stepped forward. As you might imagine, we were left paranoid thinking ‘Nobody wants to win!’.

In case you didn’t catch our post on Instagram / Facebook, the eventual Winner of our First Draw, was a lady called Summer Watson, who lives in Virginia, USA.

Summer was visiting Cirencester as a tourist back in 2019, when she stopped by our display, bought a print of a Fox and left her email address…

And here we are! In the midst of so much greyness and misery, it was a joy to be able to make someone happy!

So if YOU know someone, who might like the sort of work Ann’s painting these days, tell them about the draw and have them enter the list here.

And ‘Good Luck’ to everyone already registered!

We’re pleased to announce that – all being well – we will be participating in TWO Open Studio programmes this year.

The First, is the West Berks scheme, which runs throughout May and the Second, being the Marlborough Scheme, which will run throughout July; because of Ramsbury’s location, we get to enter both…

Because of our continued commitment to the Saturday Craft Fair in Cirencester, we will be open from 10am – 4pm, Sunday to Thursday during both months.

  • You will not need to make an appointment to visit.
  • There is wheelchair access.
  • We can offer basic refreshments such as Tea & Coffee (can’t guarantee biccies, however!).
  • We have a downstair’s loo…
  • There is ample on-street parking.
  • A good way to see the FULL range of work & chat, if you’re unable to make it to Cirencester.

Visitors will be able to see (and buy) a wide-selection of Ann’s Original Work, together with mounted & framed prints, from across the board.

It will also be possible to see Ann’s studio, if you can handle narrow, winding staircases and a dusty, draughty garret (only some of this description is true: guess which bit!). It’ll help you get a sense of her working methods and inspiration and whenever we’ve done these events before, visitors have always left with a greater understanding.

Our address?

44 Whittonditch Road, Ramsbury. Wilts. SN8 2PY.

Call if you’re lost: (01672) 520293.

If you’re already familiar with how these schemes work, the usual (free) Directories are still being printed and will be available across a wide variety of outlets, such as libraries, supermarkets, etc. We’re blessed to have lots of amazing artists close-by, so make a day of it and string a few visits together…

Being a few months off, the Marlborough website isn’t up yet, but you can check-out the West Berks one here… The page refreshes with every visit, but you can search for Ann.

We look forward to seeing you!

This new work has been a LONG time coming, hasn’t it?

Well, we’ve been a little under the weather, following Covid jabs and the same gripes everyone’s had during a Winter under-lockdown.

But, I’m pleased to report that the end is in-sight and the work is looking magnificent!

Without giving too much away, the main subject is a radical departure from the ‘European’ landscapes that Ann has been exploring throughout her ‘Fantastical Journey’.

Ann’s brushwork has also taken another step-forward. When you see this finished, next time, I think you’re going to be amazed.

That’s the thing about lockdown and the disruption we’ve all experienced over these past months: it’s given Ann a new lease of life, when it comes to her art-practice. You might remember Newsletters from a year ago, in which we were broaching the idea of moving into Fantasy themes and wondering what you might think of it… And here we are, in April, 2021 and it remains at the heart of Ann’s artistic life. So much so, that she can’t imagine painting anything else, which is some vindication, wouldn’t you say?

Full reveal NEXT TIME!

Well, that’s it for now: thanks for having made it this far!

Until next time, Ann & I wish you well and we look forward to seeing & hearing more from you in the weeks to come!

Stay Safe and Here’s to Saturdays-to-Come in the Corn Hall!
